Shadyside Shakespeare was born out of a need to make live, in-person theatre at a moment when live, in-person theatre is largely on pause. This company, founded in the summer of 2020 by a group of young theatre-makers living in Pittsburgh, PA, stages theatrical productions from the comfort of their own homes. Audiences take in the theatricals performances from the sidewalk as they look up at the windows or balconies of the home from a safe, COVID friendly distance. Unlike traditional theatre, Shadyside Shakespeare invites the audience to take a lovely walk through the quaint neighborhood of Shadyside as they watch a new section of the play at each new home. Desperate to raise the curtain once again, Shadyside Shakespeare has proven that all the world is indeed a stage!
